Griffith Update Mirror
(It's not just linux anymore!)

This is the Griffith Update Mirror providing OS and other packages to allow users to download and burn DVD/CDs, install systems, and keep your university computer systems up-to-date. This service is provided courtesy of Research Computing Services (RCS), and any problems or requests should be directed to the RCS support staff.

Currently we are providing Release and Updates for...

Fedora Linux Ubuntu Linux
CentOS Enterprise Level Linux
Cygwin Linux-like Shell for Windows
Norton Anti-virus Definitions

You may also like to directly browse the archives using, FTP or HTTP. If you have any suggestions of other things you'd like mirrored here, please mail us. Though other linux distribution may not be provided due to disk limitations.

You may find some special Free Software for your OS, such as Open Office, and SSH utilities, in PC Software, MacOsX Software, linux Extras. Suggestions for other software to be mirrored are welcome.

Note that many programs (especially web programs) will fail to download the very large DVD ISOs in this archive. Also many file systems, including Linux ext2 and Windows 95/98 Vfat 32, will NOT handle a file of this size, (Linux ext3 and MacOSX files systems work fine). If you do wish to download (and burn) this ISO image, I suggest you use a simple command line FTP program, then check the file size AND the check-sum of the downloaded file, before burning. I have successfully tested this download using the linux command line FTP so it does work from the Griffith Mirror site.

I'm sorry, but we can NOT perform installations of linux for workstations or desktop PC's at this time. Though the university is changing its stance on this. We can discuss this further with you if you have server-class hardware that you wish us to install and maintain Linux on, as we (RCS) already look after some large, school based systems of this type.
